We would suggest this nice little cafe for a good breakfast or lunch or both!Thank you for taking the time to post a review. I got a great bowl of soup and bread and my husband got a very tasty wrap of some sort. Even as busy as it was we got quick service (as unlike inside outside was table service). This time (following GOT and Outlander filming at Doune Castle) there were no seats inside but we found that they had moved to seats outside so we snagged one. The first time we visited we were glad to snag the last seat inside. And for £3.20, my husbands coffee was cold. I was very disappointed, but when I looked at the receipt on arriving home to check the cost of the boring cheese sandwich, I was actually quite disgusted to discover it had cost me £7.90. No side salad, crisps or the usual trimmings you might expect. What arrived was two doorsteps of bread with some grated cheese, carrot and lettuce in between. I was looking for a vegetarian sandwich and asked for cheese. It certainly looked that way and for £5.50, something more substantial was expected. Dad had the soup, which he described as ‘watery’. My husband had an open chicken sandwich topped with bacon which he enjoyed. With a wheelchair and two small dogs it was also an easier option, although the cafe is dog friendly. As always, the food was presented to an exacting standard and the young staff were friendly, polite and attentive despite it being extremely busy.We visited on Sunday at lunchtime and the cafe was very busy so we sat outside. We finished off with a slice of amazing chocolate fudge cake with chocolate mousse layer and fresh raspberries and a chocolate and coffee opera cake - absolutely fabulous. Home made chilli, my daughter's favourite also went down a treat with sour cream, grated cheese and tortilla chips. The sharing platter gave mum the opportunity to sample the Scandinavian Club Sandwich, one of my favourites, a slice of warm, home-made quiche and an open sandwich on artisan bread. I opted for the award-winning gourmet bagel with smoked salmon, prawns, guacamole, rocket and chilli jam with dressed salad. Fantastic choice with mouthwatering specials. Today was no exception, Took my mum for a birthday lunch. I have visited regularly since the Buttercup opened its doors and have always been blown away by the quality and choice of food.
